thankful thursdays

today i have a lot to be thankful for but i am struggling to have a good attitude...

my apartment doesnt have an ac, i didnt sleep a lick, and i am still sitting on the couch trying to cool off while staring at my pile of clothes to clean & put away. not to mention i spent the majority of my day arguing with delta reps that were so peachy and helpful, in the airport. [im obviously having a bad day] so here goes nothing...

im thankful for...

-being able to come back "home" to our things and our bed
-for being able to spend almost 2 weeks with my brothers (minus one), my parents, and jordan
-for my brothers team the GAMECOCKS of south carolina winning the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
-for doctors and modern medicine
-for a cold shower when i need it and a hot one when im in need of that
-for the talents that i have been blessed with & the abilities that i have [so many people are challenged with disabilities that keep them from being able to do things that people with out those are able to do...im not perfect but i am for sure blessed to be able to walk, see, talk, move, hear, etc]
-for fans...not like the cheering ones-like the old school room fans that have helped it cool my house down from 130 degrees to 100 [not literally but haha-pretty much]
-it being forth of july on monday, im thankful for my patriotic freedom. while i was in omaha, before each game, they had someone sing our national anthem. i have NEVER been to a baseball game in which i saw all the fans at least stand... let alone stop walking to remove there hats and to honor or colors being presented. i am thankful for the freedoms this country gives us and i am thankful to be able to celebrate it monday.
-for family...i probably say this one every time but no words could describe how thankful i am for all of them. family is always going to be there for you, whether you like it or not, friends find better things in life and move on from you leaving you behind but family wont ever leave! they are the best.... im proud to be a harper/peterson....

...now its your turn-tell me what you are thankful for!

have a wonderful day!

its monday...and were still here

as bad as this sounds-i packed clothes for 5 days for both my husband and i. we never imagined the gamecocks would be here this long. we hoped they would but never thought it. we are still here and today marks the start of the championship round. tonight at 7:10pm the gamecocks with face off against the florida gators. battle of the SEC. its very exciting to be a part of this all... the games have been so good. they played texas a&m the first game on sunday the 19. in the first inning both teams put up 4 runs and it wouldnt be until the 9th inning in which they would score the game winning run. the final was 4-5 gamecocks. the next game was against virginia. they were ranked 1 coming into the CWS series. the cocks were vistors this game-to me that means put up as many runs possible to hold that lead. in the first inning the cocks scored 3 runs. virginia would go scoreless until the 4th where they scored 1 run. the score at that point was 6-1. i was still so nervous. in the top of 8 they scored one more run and held them at 7-1. winning that game we had 2 days off. virginia faced cal to make it back to the winners bracket. in all honesty i was rooting for cal as my second choice. i wanted them to go far in the tourny due to the lack of support by the school-they lost which meant we would face virginia again on friday. if they won we would face them for a 3 game. the game went to the 13th inning. it was the CRAZIEST game i have ever been to. in the second inning virginia scored a run and two innings later in the 4th virginia took there lights out pitcher out of the game due to illness. he was DOMINATING! seriously-DOMINATING! we have heard he had the flu and was vomiting in the dugout but also witnessed a twitch in his pitching had which may have meant he was hurt. either way he left the game and the cocks scored 2. it would stay 1-2 until the top of 8 where virginia would score the tying run. the game would have bases loaded by both teams for 3 innings straight where they got out of it. finally in the top of 13 the cocks double played to get out of the inning-heading to the bottom of 13 matt price (our closer) was at 110 pitches. we needed to score!! he couldnt do it again-there was no way! the wahoos brought in a new pitcher. thomas singled to center. thennnn they pinch ran mathews for him. mooney bunted for a fielders choice and was safe. they beary bunted again and reached on a fielders choice and the ball was thrown away at third to score mathews for the winning run... they won! it was SO INTENSE!

GO COCKS!!!

tonight we play florida to start a need to win 2 games series. florida is coming to the series having never won a CWS championship and south carolina is coming to the series to defend there title. hopefully the cocks can pull this one out! watch for me. im 3 for 3 on making the espn cut! hahah. good day bloggers!

thankful thursdays

well since im out of town and on vacation, i havent been able to blog. today i decided i needed to blog and do my weekly write up...

im thankful for...

-my husband holding me when i have anxiety...its the only thing that helps me not to cry. i hate having anxiety but he helps.
-my mom letting us stay in this SWEET room with her. its 2 stories, 3 beds, 2 bath. its awesome and much cheaper than having 2 rooms.
-my brother bryan, even though hes been super grumpy this week, i have enjoyed hanging out with him everyday.
-the rain delay on tuesday... watching the rain delay antics cracked me up!
-good media...so many people try to find the bad in what someone says-Dave Sheinen who isnt afraid to defend players and also who is a family guy.
-all the people who support my family and arent afraid to scream it from the rooftops.

im especially thankful for today. thank you Heavenly Father for allowing me to wake up to the sun shining and blue skies!

thankful thursdays

okay im going to join the bandwagon of my dear family and friends who have started this thankful day! so here i go my first thankful thursday post.....

im thankful for:

-my husband jordan, he puts up with me and all of my annoyances & quirks.
-my temple marriage that allows my husband and i to spend eternity as a family.
-my mom and dad for being such a great example of love and care.
-my mom for teaching me to cook-and i must say pretty good!
-my dad for teaching me to be strong and not a push over.
-bryan my middle brother for teaching me to NEVER give up.
-bryce my youngest brother for teaching me that dreams do come true.
-for jordans family for raising a great guy.
-for my blog...i am able to say what i want and utilize my first amendment right every day.
-my parents for helping jordan and i along with my brothers friends to go to omaha tomorrow.
-my few good friends... it seems like i have lost more by moving but my good friend Kayla sticks around. she listens to me when i need a friend even if shes busy. she always answers (when her phone lets her, stupid iphones) even if shes in the middle of something. she is a true friend. im thankful for her family-in a time of mourning her family allowed me to be apart of it and come visit. jordan was even impressed by the way they make you feel like youre a piece small or large but a piece of the family. i love them all for that... they are the best.
-my friend brittney. we worked together. i love her. she makes me laugh plus she has the 3 cutest kids on the earth!
-my brothers good friends-bryce kelley and collin shumate. they are awesome, funny, and are really brothers to me...extra kids for my mom if you will.
-my cellphone so i can keep in touch with everyone all across the world!
-the gospel in my life. i am so glad to have it and i wish i was better at sharing it.
-inspiring blogs, nienie is my favorite. watch her story here. shes AMAZING.
-the blessing of children. 2 friends had babies yesterday. it seems like both of them had rough births but the babies and the mommies are both healthy. also for modern medicine-without it these births would have taken days... welcome to the world emree & axton!
-for food... i love food and im so blessed with funds to be able to buy and cook dinner.

lastly im thankful for life, the way i live, the family i have, my cute husband, a roof over my head, and a car to drive in.

join us in being thankful...share what you are thankful for TODAY!

who cares? i know my point exactly.

so while i was in vegas not only did bryan and his team advance to the finals-bryce was pick (by his coaches and others) to be on the all-star team. not only is he among the youngest selected-he also received the most votes out of all the other players. HUGE accomplishment... i suck for forgetting and being so wrapped up in going to omaha! so proud of my brother!

i have been really on edge lately. mainly about people talking trash. there was an incident in which started an uproar of rude and stupid comments. on facebook i witnessed friends and family of mine joining in on this. i quickly erased them from my life. luckily i have better friends who defend others honor when they arent around to do so. it quickly turned worse by them being deleted for standing up for someone. i remember a day when the best athletes were treated like gold-people rooted for them rather than wishing them injury or affliction. most athletes/stars dont live like we normal folks do. they live lifestyles that allow them to do what them want & when they want to do it. they are treated badly by media if they dont stick around for that final interview after "working" all day. they are also turned on by fans that miss that window of autographs being signed and the fans hate them after that. give these people a break. yes they have been blessed with super talents to do something they love but why does that give YOU the right to hate them? God tells us to "love one another". a basic principle taught by parents, teachers, church leaders of all kinds, and yet people STILL hate those with more success. my point: LeBron James is a basketball player. he is still young. he still has a lot of career left (God willing). he had a bad series and then kind of "gave up" at the end of the game. who cares?! do you think hes not sitting on his couch feeling like crap because he didnt preform to the best of his ability while media & "fans" talk bad about it. give the guy a break-i can promise you he already felt bad. hes not a douche, hes not a jerk, and he does not deserve the scrutiny for his mistake. in all honesty he doesnt deserve the spotlight. Dirk does. he got MVP and he isnt even being talked about. its just sad to see that bad news travels further than the good. also does anyone every think-man if that was my (brother, sister, mom, dad, cousin, son, daughter... take your pick) i dont think i could stand listening to the oh so mean comments they are making about this person. no. no one puts themselves in someone elses shoes. some of these people (my brother included) came from normal homes. homes where we had more fun than we did money. a home where we had chores, lived in not so nice neighborhoods, where we had spaghetti and had left-overs for days and loved it... grated we had a home-but my parents worked hard for what we had. these athletes arent athletes first-they are family before that, they are people before that. our world has become so twisted-lets try something new! start thinking before we speak so negatively about people and wishing harm against them. the media & mean fans are the reason these people have a hard exterior and why they have been groomed to be "hard ass'". be nice because im sick of going to bed feeling sorry for your sad and mutually mediocre lifestyle. embrace your mediocre life. stop being miserable-BE FREAKING HAPPY!!!

.....on to the next one.

i got my eyelashes done today & trade to do hers. i currently suck at it! it takes me FOREVER (3 hours to be precise) and i get so frustrated. i get shaky and tired and aggravated. they turned out really good though-she looked awesome after & mine did too. if you want a quick fix and dont want to have to do your "full make-up" invest in eyelash extensions. the upfront cost will cost a bit but up keep is similar to a fill in nails. SO WORTH IT!!

good day everyone!

oh and keep my family friends the mcallister/chaunceys in your prayers-new baby coming into the world today! love them and baby emree the biggest little braves fan ever!!

and we made it back to wyo in one piece!

i loved being home. i was able to do so much. we arrived last friday night and i had my eyelash extension class on saturday and sunday. i took the class with my best friend kayla-we were there all freaking day! the first day sucked. its what cosmetologists and "beauty school" students refer to as theory. it was rough! then sunday was hands on and i put eyelashes on kayla and she did them on me. it is super tedious and pretty difficult at first but as soon as the lady left me alone i was fine. after that-the week was pretty much a blur. we ate at a ton of places and enjoyed lots of frozen custard. i was able to see my friend brittney's SUPER adorable twin boys. i love them. i got my hurrr did & nails did. plus we were able to see lots of family and friends. [sorry if we didnt make it to see you] my grandma and grandpa had a bbq for us and i was so excited to hang out with my new(ish) "nephew", max. he has gotten so big and he is only 6 1/2 months old. its crazy how fast babies grow!! i love him. i was so happy that we were able to come and visit-its crazy how much you miss being away. we were going to leave friday-then saturday, then my parents stayed home, so we left yesterday. while we were driving we stopped in provo to eat at pf changs-much to our surprise (and annoyance) it was CLOSED. why the heck does pf changs close!??! no where else in the world...except freaking utah. so we opted for sliders-closed too.... last choice: texas roadhouse-which was open. after that we start the last leg home. by this time the SC/UConn super regional game started.... i was super stressed-they won friday and only needed one more win to advance to omaha. i texted my 'brother' bryce kelley to ask him to keep me updated while we drove. i knew i was going to lose service but was hoping the game would end before that. getting text updates are intense especially when your team is down 2-0 in the 3rd and being the vistors.... they ended up winning! i FREAKED out... my husband as my witness-i was screaming and jolting and jumping in the car. (i know a bit ridiculous) but this is the reason why bryan went to USC. he deserves this! all our lives weve been around baseball, watched it, played it, loved it.... when the college world series comes around-we take family time to gather around the tv watch all the games and dream of going to omaha. this year-finally... we get to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity! im beyond beyond beyond excited. i talked to bryan and he was seriously on cloud 9! it was awesome. here is the video after the win http://youtu.be/N2m0koZ-hAw if you pay attention koumas stands up to the left of the pile and bryan jumps on him taking him out! haha awesome!!!! i am so happy that bryan gets to experience the new ameritrade park in all its glory! and guess what! me, jordan, my parents, bk lounge, & lollin do too!!!! i seriously will probably cry!

now lets try and think of an ESPN poster so i can make TV! any ideas??? help me out! hope everyone has a great day and.... GO COCKS!!!!!

epic fail.

lets start with the fact that i woke up after having ANOTHER bad dream-for those of you who dont know, which is everyone, i have been having the craziest, scariest, saddest dreams ever! i got up today and i had SO much to do. i had to pack, finish cleaning, laundry, wash my car, check the fluids in my car, get food & prescriptions (one actually) for the trip, and then get ready for tonight. its kyles birthday-and its DINNER for the DAY! i started packing, did a few things around the house and packed up to do my errands today. so i got ready and was so hot! i put work out clothes on because the big thing on the list was washing the car. so i go put my laundry in the dryer and head to wash my car. i get to the washing place and this guy snakes his way into the spot i was aiming for-jerk. then as im washing the wonderful wyoming wind picked up-joy. the car washing foam which is YELLOW sprayed all over me, my white shirt, and my face. oh well it happens when washing a car. so this guy walks up and says "hows the car washing going". (as im drying my car) "its going-almost done". he stood there and stared. (awkward silence as i continue) he says after probably 5 minutes, "i was just reading your license plate cover..." (which reads-follow me to dodgers stadium) "...the dodgers huh?" (stands there some more then awkwardly leaves) i finish drying my car and head to pick up my laundry. after i head home finish cleaning up my car & check my fluids. to my annoyance the oil needed changing. (which makes no sense considering my car was on a doughnut for 2 months and i NEVER drove it-whatevs) head over to the place to get it changed and the first guy was pretty nice. i brought my own oil filter because i like to use the filters my dad has used because one i have had no problems before and also because i have had the problem before where the idiot didnt change the filter-yeah that happened. then the guy that was super awkward walks in and says "oh you got washing foam all over your shirt". hmm thanks guy-"yeah i know". he says "2 different filters for your car-thats pretty weird. what kind of oil do you want?" (insult then question-im glad people are so respectful now days) "well what kind of oil do you have?" (there were no signs of the varieties they carry) he turns his back to me folds his arms and rattles them off... "well i dont really know..." (they didnt have chevron, thats what i get at home) "well you should get this kind" "ok ill take that" he walks away and goes to change the oil. he comes back helps the two guys then says "your shorts are really bright". (well they are lime green-thanks for noticing) "yeah they are pretty cool" "uhh why would someone need shorts that bright?" i respond. "well they are running shorts and if i want to go at night i wont get hit by a car." he made some new STUPID comment, i pay, then leave to get my prescription. pick it up pay for it and head home. i eat because by this time im STARVING. while im eating i open my prescription and what do ya know...it was the wrong one. not a big deal because i actually needed that prescription but i was STRESSED because i needed the other one for my trip, called, & headed back to the pharmacy. i am so happy im heading home-the people here seriously shock the crap out of me! im so glad im ready to go but could have done without all the ridiculous comments and stupid statements i got today. they all made my day seem like a failure! on the bright side tomorrow i will be home in my old bed and seeing my cat & dog!! WOOO HOO!!
