it has been a crazy week/month/year. where do i start even?
my brohans: bryan and bryce were both drafted on june 7, 2010. a year before that bryce was featured on the cover of sports illustrated as 'baseballs lebron'. since that day our lives were changed. bryan and bryce had a phenomenal 2009 baseball season at CSN. after the season ended, as a family, we were preparing for the draft. day one of the draft we gathered around a T.V. waiting for the washington nationals to announce their first round, first pick. bud selig walked to the stand and the words that came out of his mouth were and are still a shock to me. (not because i dont think bryce deserved it but because it was so surreal) "the washington nationals select with there first pick bryce harper" at first i thought i would cry. we stood each giving bryce a hug. it was a proud moment for all of us and something that probably will never set in fully. the following day was bryans big day. he recieved a call saying the same team, the washington nationals, would take him in the 5th round. he refused due to certain reasons. we waited and waited... AND WAITED. it was probably one of the most upsetting days of my life. to sit with my brother, who deserves respect (and really has never been given it), was heartwrenching. he was finally drafted by the cubbies in the 27th round. after draft day things settled a little bit. august 16 at 12 eastern time was the end of the waiting game. the nationals finally offered bryce some money and they mutually agreed on a deal 26 seconds before the deadline. bryan was offered money from the cubbies, he thanked them for there extreme interest, and the offer they gave him but he said no and remains at the university of south carolina. i have one brother gone to the east coast and one leaving in the next few days to the same place. it really is going to be quiet around here.
my love: we met over a year ago while he was serving his mission here in las vegas. when he left my area my mom got his email address insisting on us keeping in touch. i knew this was a tisk tisk matter but she annoyed me enough that i finally emailed him. he will tell you it took me a good three months before i responded. oops. in october of 2009 his mission president asked him to stop writing me. i recieved one letter and one email per week fr about 6 months. i was for sure falling for him quickly. in his final letter he said something that made me realize that he was the one. (sounds weird but its true) the last night he was in my area he came to say goodbye. when he left i closed the door and looked at my mom and said "i have the weirdest middle school crush on him, like i have known him forever. i cant like him! hes a missionary." in his final letter he said "this is going to sound so middle school but i like you." i know it sounds dumb but i knew in that moment i had to wait for him. he got home january 6, 2010 and i visited him january 9, 2010. he was so akward but i had the best time with him and his family. we have been dating ever since. i love him to death. i am so thankful that the gospel brought him into my life. its crazy to think that a guy from a small town in wyoming came all the way to vegas and made me fall for him. fate at its best, dontcha think?
